Halden Seeding Date Calculator
Balancing when to plant so that your flowers or vegetables are ready to harvest at the right time can be tricky! That’s why we created the Halden Seeding Date Calculator. The calculator will require that you enter your frost dates and information found on your Halden seed packet or the Halden site product descriptions. The calculator will then compute the date at which you should start seed indoors or direct seed outdoors along with an estimated date of harvest or flowering.
It is something you can use and save each season. It is built for beginner/ home growers to advanced gardeners/flower farmers who want to calculate the best time to plant in their garden or want to keep track of their seeding schedule.
Is especially useful for those gardeners that are planning to create bouquets so that your various flower varieties will be ready for harvest at the same time. It can also be used to calculate vegetable harvest times.
-Upon buying the seeding calculator you will receive an Excel File that you will need to download to your computer within 24 hours. (Can also run on Numbers on an Apple Computer).
-Remember to save the download to your documents so that you can reference and use it every year when you plan your garden.
-First, you will need to input your first and last frost dates at the top of the sheet and the rest of the numbers will populate based on those dates.
-You can add cells/varieties as needed by entering the name under the crop heading, days to maturity and the number of weeks (in relation to your frost date you should seed indoors or outdoors).
-Enter crops under the cool-season section if it is recommended that you should start your seeds so many weeks before your frost date. Enter crops under the warm season section if it is recommended to start your seeds after your last frost date.
-Seeding dates will populate in the columns to the right along with estimated flowering/harvesting dates of your crops.
-The notes section is great to add information such as actual flower/harvest dates, any pests that were damaging, or other things to note about your crop. Based on this information you can adjust your sheet for next year to refine your gardening skills!
-It will be helpful to have a basic understanding of Excel Spreadsheets in order to get the maximum value out of your seeding calculator.
This resource has been incredibly useful to us as we plan our gardens and so we thought to pass it along! We hope it helps as you plan your gardens!
