How it works

When you sign up, we identify your climate and will hand pick your planting plan accordingly. Each month you receive a plant (bulb, plant, tuber etc) designed to fill 32 square feet of garden space over a year of growing - the equivalent of a 4 × 8 raised bed.

How It Works
We've created a climate specific flower box that is custom to your exact location. Every month we send you something to plant at the precise planting time that has been hand picked for your climate. All you will need is 32 square feet of garden space—the equivalent of a 4 × 8 raised bed. You can plant it all in one bed, use pots/containers, or spread it throughout different areas of your yard that add up to 32 square feet. By planting the RIGHT VARIETIES for you climate, and staggering your planting each month, your flowers will thrive and you will have continuous blooms throughout the growing season.
What We Send
Every climate box experience is a little different. We will send you a box with 1 flower variety per box per month - for example a set of bulbs or tubers. Over a year you will have a variety of annuals and perennials which arrive as small plants, bulbs, tubers, rhizomes, corms or seeds. Occasionally we will send you seed packets to scatter and direct sow but we will never have you grow seeds indoors or send you seeds that you have to carefully germinate. The box is designed for efficiency and low time commitment on the planting side.

Along with each box you’ll first receive an email with a save-able PDF that will tell you exactly what you are receiving that month with quick simple step by step instructions of how to plant it. We will also include more in depth information about that plant and how to be successful growing and maintaining it. Also provided will be tips and to do’s items for maintaining, arranging and caring for what you had previously planted. We guide you every step of the way as you grow your flower garden.
When We Send It
Each month it can vary slightly based on supplier constraints. We are committed to quality and because we have a live product we are sometimes subject to when the product is freshest and can be properly shipped as well as weather factors. The instructional part will be sent via email the first week of every month so that you have it before your box arrives.
Your Climate Classification
There are approximately 30 Koppen Climate classifications. It is very important that you know yours when you sign up so that when you receive it is perfectly curated for you. We will send you only plants that grow in your region and will send them at the right planting time for you. There is a map on this product photo reel that you can reference but we highly recommend researching your exact zip code for your exact climate classification. We are not responsible if you select the wrong climate in the sign up process so please make sure you have the right one.
What You Need
You will need about 32 square feet of soil that gets at least 5 hours of sun a day. This is the equivalent of a 4 x 8 area. You can grow in a raised bed, pots or in the ground. You could plant in various places around your yard if you want or you could have one dedicated place for your flower garden.
You’ll also need a water source. This could be as simple as a watering can or hose. Of course you can also use sprinklers or drip irrigation. We will give you custom watering instructions as part of your monthly information pages.
Sourcing
We source in partnership with professional growers, plantsman and farmers all over the country. Your box may come from a variety of suppliers, chosen for optimal quality and expertise.
Cutting & Harvesting Your Flowers
As your flowers begin to bloom we will give you all of the needed information to be successful at harvesting, storing, cutting and arranging your flowers as they bloom.
What You Will Grow
Some flowers you may grow: Dahlias, ranunculus, cosmos, yarrow, zinnias, sweet peas, snapdragons, poppies, anemones, peonies, tulips and many more. Every month and every year is different so that our growers will get to experience a myriad of beautiful varieties within many categories.

Life gets busy and we have a lot going on. Halden takes away all the friction of having to stay consistent in order to be successful. Without having to think about it your box shows up and you take five minutes and you plant it. Done. The flowers will do the rest of the work for you.

At a nursery or garden center you won’t get instructions for how to plant or care for your flowers. You won’t get inspiration regarding what to do with them or best practices.

There’s a difference between bulbs etc that are shipped in bulk and sit in a garden center for months vs bulbs that are brought in from the fields, sorted and shipped straight to you. We source from quality growers that are guaranteed to grow if planted properly.

Garden centers have to choose plant varieties that will work for the masses. This means that they stick to very generic varieties and bring in the same things each year. Being part of the Halden Flower Experience will introduce you to plants that are incredible in their qualities and that are hand chosen for your climate.
What You Will Need

You will need about a 4 X 8 planting area (32 square feet) of space located in a place with full sun (at least 5 hours a day)

You will need a water source for your chosen site. A hose, sprinklers, or drip system will work especially well or even a simple watering can will also work if you are planting in pots or raised beds.

You will not need indoor seed starting equipment, extensive tools, tillers, or a large selection of fertilizers or gardening equipment. We like to keep it simple here at Halden. If you have a place to plant with some sun and water then we can grow a garden together. Let’s get growing!
