Gypsophilia elegans

A twist on traditional baby’s breath with a five petaled, open faced flower that grows on airy stems. This flower adds a light airy touch to your cottage garden or cut flower arrangements.

Seed Count: approximately 100 seeds

Plant Height: 18-24”

Light Requirements: full sun

Soil Preference: moderate fertility and moisture, pH 6.5-7.5

USDA Zones: 3-7 (perennial)

How to Grow

Germination: 10-14 days at 65-70F, light required

Seeding Depth: 1/4” depth

Plant Spacing: 8-12”

Days to Maturity: 50-60 days

Early-Season Seeding: Starting seed indoors is not recommended. Direct seed outdoors after the last frost date.

Late-Season Seeding: Start seed indoors or direct seed outdoors at least 8 weeks before the first frost date.

Growing Tips: Plants may require a trellis to support growth in rainy areas. Succession plantings every 3 weeks will ensure a consistent harvest.

Cut Flower: Harvest when ½ of flowers have just opened for a vase-life of 5-7 days. Searing stems in hot water for a few seconds will revive drooping flowers.
